Simon di Brazzan Malvasia
The Wine
The Malvasia grape is believed to have originated in ancient Greece and became so popular that it spread across Europe. Today, its highest expression may be found in the region behind this wine, Italy's Friuli-Venizia-Giulia (see map). The has a long history with this grape - in the Middle Ages, Malvasia was the standard offering from Venetian merchants and their wine shops were simply called “malvasie.”
The wine offers aromas of green apples, herbs and flowers, leading to a crisp, tangy flavor profile featuring stone fruits and a flinty minerality. 13.5% ABV
A fine apéritif that can be enjoyed on its own, but it pairs beautifully with lighter fish dishes, shellfish, green salads, with or without vinaigrette, and fatty cheeses.
The Winery
This region of Northeastern Italy has grown wine grapes for thousands of years. Over a relatively short portion of that history, (four generations), the Simon di Brazzan winery has contributed what they could to continue that history, and to advance it as far as possible. Fourth generation vigneron, Daniele Drius, makes the family wines with the same confidence that inspired his grandparents; producing a wine that creates an almost a magical experience and seduces everyone who tastes it.
