The Wine
A delicious, mouth-watering blend of native Peloponnesian grapes (Monemvasia, Kydonitsa, and Assyrtiko) grown on limestone and schist soils near the medieval Greek fortress in the town of Monemvasia.
The wine shows a bright, saline character with aromas of citrus blossom, stone fruit, and a subtle herbal edge. The vintage was warm but moderated by Aegean sea breezes, preserving acidity and giving the wine a clean, coastal profile.
Pairings: Grilled fish, lemon‑herb dishes, or a young/fresh sheep’s cheese.
The Winery
The Tsimbidi family is central to the revival of Monemvasia’s ancient grape varieties, many of which would likely be extinct if not for their thoughtful intervention. Their work includes clonal research, preservation of old vines, and a strong commitment to sustainable farming in a rugged, wind‑swept landscape.
This particular wine of theirs was born out of their determination to showcase the region’s maritime freshness and the diversity of the indigenous grape varieties..
