One of our favorite suggestions for those who love Sancerre but are looking for something a bit different.
Saint Bris is Burgundy’s quirky exception, allowing Sauvignon Blanc where Chardonnay usually reigns. Verret’s 2023 shows lime zest, gooseberry, and a chalky mineral note from Kimmeridgian soils. It’s crisp and aromatic but more restrained than Loire Sauvignon, with a subtle, savory finish.
Pairings: Goat cheese, oysters, citrus‑driven dishes, and fresh herbs all complement its mineral snap.
The Winery
Domaine Verret is a long‑established family estate in Saint‑Bris, farming limestone‑rich vineyards that give their wines clarity and lift. Their focus on sustainable viticulture and gentle cellar work preserves the purity of this unusual Burgundian Sauvignon Blanc.
