Lucidity Wine Merchants
The Wine
This bright, ruby‑red Sangiovese (with 5% Uva Rara) offers light violet hues and an aromatic profile featuring red and black berries (wild cherry and blackberry) layered with fresh floral notes that are typical of the Modigliana region's high‑altitude sandstone soils.
The palate is medium‑bodied, elegant, and quietly energetic, with finely integrated tannins and a clean, fruit‑driven core. A subtle bitter‑herbal snap on the finish adds definition and keeps the wine feeling savory and dry. Serve slightly cool for maximum lift.
Pairings: Herbed pork loin, porchetta, pasta with tomato sauce, poultry grilled with herbs, lentil or mushroom dishes. Cheese-wise, reach for a pecorino, aged asiago or a Tomme style/Alpine option.
The Winery
Villa Papiano is a captivating estate nestled amidst the pristine, densely forested hills of
Italy's Modigliana in Romagna. At 1,900 feet above sea level, its organically farmed vineyards thrive on ancient sandstone soils, yielding wines that are both savory and vibrant.
Francesco Bordini is one of four siblings involved in the winery, but he's the genius behind the brand's success. Francesco embodies a deep understanding of each grape variety he's chosen for his family's property. With a profound respect for the environment, he crafts Sangiovese wines (mostly) that are expressions of their unique parcels within the estate.
At Villa Papiano, amidst the interplay of height, light, and soil, these wines are a testament to the harmony between humanity and nature, Villa Papiano embraces artisanal and biodynamic methods that prioritize observation, attention to detail, and a deep connection with the land.
