The Wine
A vivid, aromatic expression of old‑vine Garnacha from the Méntrida hills west of Madrid.
The wine is bright and lifted with aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and a touch of strawberry, all wrapped in the grape’s natural spice and a faint herbal note. The palate is fresh and medium‑bodied, with lively acidity, gentle tannin, and a stony, almost dusty finish that reflects the region’s granitic soils. It’s a pure, energetic Garnacha meant for the table rather than heaviness.
PairingsGrilled chicken, pork, chorizo, roasted vegetables, and tomato‑forward dishes. For cheese, choose Garrotxa, Roncal, or a young Manchego whose nutty, savory profile complements the wine’s bright fruit.
The Winery
Viticola Mentridana is the project of winemaker Daniel Gómez Jiménez‑Landí, who works with old bush‑vine Garnacha planted on sandy granite soils at high elevation. Farming is organic and low‑input, emphasizing vine health and natural balance.
Winemaking is deliberately restrained: whole‑cluster fermentations, native yeasts, and aging in large neutral vessels to preserve transparency and freshness. The goal is to highlight Méntrida’s unique combination of altitude, granite, and old vines, producing Garnacha that is aromatic, lively, and deeply rooted in its landscape.
