Lucidity Wine Merchants
The Wine
The wine opens with a clean, stony precision that reveals its cool‑climate roots. Aromas of lime peel, white peach, and crushed slate rise with quiet intensity, followed by a subtle herbal lift - think lemon balm and a hint of fennel.
On the palate, the wine is taut and linear at first, but expands with a gentle, ripe stone‑fruit generosity. The vintage’s natural concentration shows in the mid‑palate, but the finish snaps back into focus with brisk acidity and a saline, mineral echo that lingers with impressive clarity.
Pairings: Dungeness crab, ceviche, sushi/sashimi, Thai food. Cheese pairings include soft goat cheeses or blues drizzled with a bit of honey.
The Winery
Weingut Steininger, based in Langenlois in the heart of Austria's Kamptal, is a family‑run estate best known for its precise, expressive Rieslings and Grüner Veltliners. The Steiningers have built their reputation on capturing the character of Kamptal’s diverse soils, particularly the region’s primary rock and loess, through a style that emphasizes clarity, freshness, and varietal purity.
While the estate is also celebrated for its impressive range of Sekt (the sparkling Riesling, pronounced Tzekt), their still wines remain benchmarks for the region: clean, mineral‑driven, and crafted with a steady, traditional hand. This wine reflects their philosophy perfectly, offering a snapshot of both place and vintage with understated confidence.
